Güneşlik HEPP is a diversion type hydroelectric facility that has been planned to use the potential between 770 m and 666 m of Aydınlık Creek. Project is already in the planning stage.
In the former feasibility report Güneşlik HEPP project consisted of two hydropower plants and one dam. In this case, the project had a lot of adverse social and environmental effects and also the cost of the project was very high. Therefore, to minimize these effects and improve the project economy a new project formulation was developed by Prosem Engineering.
According to this new formulation, Güneşlik HEPP consists of one diversion weir, 19.4 km long trapezoidal conveyance channel, headpond, penstock and powerhouse. But, in this new formulation instead of the big reservoir storage, projects are planned to have daily pondage. By this way, the high cost of the dam body and the negative social and environmental effects of this dam are eliminated.
